Fred Brown Recovery Services' residential treatment program consists
of four (4) phases. The first three phases offer an intensive,
structured environment beginning with an individual assessment,
introduction to recovery, then gradually increasing the participant's
awareness and involvement in their personal recovery program. The
first three phases may be adjusted according to the participant's
severity of addiction and progress, however are designed to occur
within 90 days. The disease of addictions is confronted and each
person is provided with opportunities to challenge self-destructive
concepts and to experience growth, personal responsibilities and
increased self-esteem. Great emphasis is also placed on assisting
clients with ancillary issues
which
can
significantly
shape the
course
of the participant's recovery long term. Phase four includes various
levels of aftercare including placement in a sober living home,
continuing counseling sessions and AA / NA groups, sponsorship
and follow up.
Phase I
We provide a comprehensive assessment
in order to treat each individual according to their needs.
Referral to medical detoxification may be provided. Mental and
physical
health issues are identified and an initial treatment plan
is developed. Staff works together with participant to create
a multi disciplinary
treatment plan that individualizes treatment for each participant.
It is our goal to ensure that the needs of each individual
are met through an intake and assessment process conducted by
certified
drug and alcohol abuse counselors. In this phase, we emphasize
one to one counseling and support. We familiarize each participant
with the safe and healthful environment of the recovery facility
and introduce the participant to the treatment process. The
basic concepts of group dynamics and the 12-Step program are
introduced.
Education on the disease concept, the concept of denial,
and consequences of the participants drug use are also introduced.
Phase II
Treatment plans are reassessed
based on a participant's progress and revised to include any other
issues that may have been
revealed in phase one. We continue behavioral group therapy
and relate recovery concepts to an individuals own experiences.
We confront individual with the realities of their life including
behavior and thinking. There is a focus on the individual's
attitude and its impact on their own recovery. Family counseling
is introduced and strongly encouraged during this phase.
We begin to focus the participant on specific educational
and life enhancing skills. The participant reinforces a daily structured
routine attending group therapy sessions, recreational therapy,
12 Step meetings and special education sessions that are designed
to increase the participant's knowledge of health, nutrition and
addiction.
Phase III
We encourage the participant to
recognize and practice the new skills learned in earlier phases.
There is a focus on self-esteem building through the participant's
leadership in the treatment community. We support the participant
in establishing short and long-term goals and building communication
skills and relationships with home, work, schools and social environment.
We assist the participant by way of referrals to outside sources
that aid the participant in parenting skills, anger management,
domestic violence education, HIV / AIDS testing services and criminal
justice casework. Educational / Vocational Rehabilitation assessments,
planning and referrals are provided. Discharge and aftercare plans
are developed and living accommodations including a transition
into a structured recovery home may be provided.
Phase IV
We assist the participant in implementing
their aftercare plan. Follow up and additional referrals to outside
support services are made. Individual counseling is available and
encouraged at periodic intervals. Structured sober living accommodations
are made available. All graduating clients are encouraged to continue
self -help (12 Step) groups and obtain an AA / NA sponsor. Attendance
at the weekly Relapse Prevention Workshop and alumni meetings are
highly recommended.
